The Johnny G Energy Training System
Heart rate monitors offer a unique insight into the functional capability of our body whether exercising or recovering. The first wireless heart-rate monitor was invented in 1977. By the 1990s, individuals were not only looking at heart rate monitors for performance training needs, but also for their individual everyday fitness requirements.
In 1995, Johnny G wrote: "rather than dissociating ourselves from the activity we are engaged in, we now have a tool that helps us turn our awareness inward, experiencing our inner state." For many of us, this was our first step toward realizing our energetic nature through the practice of heart-rate controlled training.
Using visual color cues to express ones effort level, the Johnny G Energy Training System is an entirely new way to think about heart-rate training. The system makes articulating and measuring effort levels visual, by using color to represent RPE (rate of perceived exertion,) in a way that's intuitive and easy to understand.
